The Ethos

I was a fighter before I was a photographer. Fifteen years around boxing, kickboxing, and K1 means I know the language, the pace, and the body language before the shot happens. I am not just chasing impact frames; I am reading the fighter's story, the event's energy, and the moments that explain the night.

Reliable coverage
in difficult light.

Low-light arenas, theatre stages, LED rigs, split-second action, and busy crowd flow all need calm preparation and equipment built for speed.

The Sony platform and fast f/2 glass, including Sony 28-70mm f/2 coverage, are chosen for ugly light, not spec-sheet decoration. The difference shows when the room is dark, the fighters are moving, and the image still needs to be sharp, clean, and usable.

The aim is not only to catch the punch. It is to tell the event story: the walkout, corner pressure, crowd reaction, sponsor moments, recovery, celebration, and the small human seconds around the fight.

Low-light specialist

Sony platform, fast f/2 glass, and arena exposure discipline for dark rooms where slower kit struggles.

Anti-flicker

Mechanical shutter discipline and arena LED testing before the first bell.

Redundancy

Dual-card capture, backup bodies, and SSD ingest between rounds.

Story coverage

Walkouts, corners, crowd, venue, pressure, recovery, and the quiet seconds between exchanges.

04 / CASE STUDY

A difficult room.
A fast deadline.
A usable gallery.

A typical fight-night brief: difficult light, a full card, sponsor visibility, and a gallery needed while the event is still being talked about.

CASE STUDY 01 - PROMOTER

Heavy red LEDs.
50 PR-ready by 8 a.m.

The brief
Regional MMA promoter needed full-card coverage and a newspaper-ready selection on the editor's desk before the morning print deadline.
The constraint
Saturated red LED rig caused severe banding on most sensors. Promoter needed 50 images by 08:00 - six hours after the final bell.
Execution
Mechanical-shutter anti-flicker, dual bodies, and a priority cull for the images needed first.
Result
Sponsor-ready gallery, press selects, and fighter social assets delivered inside the 24-hour PR window.
Client note

We had images live while the crowd was still arguing about the main event. That speed changed the sponsor conversation.

Promoter · East Midlands
Client note

I'd been using my phone. The first sponsor cold-called me three days after Luke's shots went up. The pack tripled my rate card.

Fighter · Derby
Client note

The facility finally looked like the place feels at 7 p.m. Busy, serious, alive. Membership enquiries moved the same week.
